HOW-TO: Clear Cache on a browser

Clearing the cache in your web browser can help resolve issues with loading or formatting on websites. Here’s how to clear the cache for popular browsers:

Google Chrome:

  1. Open Chrome:

    • Click the three vertical dots in the upper-right corner of the browser window.

  2. Access More Tools:

    • Hover over “More tools” and then click on “Clear browsing data.”

  3. Select Time Range and Data:

    • In the dialog box, choose the time range (e.g., “Last hour,” “Last 24 hours,” “All time”).

    • Ensure “Cached images and files” is checked. You can also select other data types to clear, such as cookies.

  4. Clear Data:

    • Click the “Clear data” button.

Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Open Firefox:

    • Click the three horizontal lines (menu) in the upper-right corner.

  2. Options/Preferences:

    • Click on “Options” (Windows) or “Preferences” (macOS).

  3. Privacy & Security:

    • Select the “Privacy & Security” panel.

  4. Cookies and Site Data:

    • Under the “Cookies and Site Data” section, click “Clear Data.”

  5. Select Cached Web Content:

    • Ensure “Cached Web Content” is checked. You can also select other data types to clear.

  6. Clear:

    • Click the “Clear” button.

Microsoft Edge:

  1. Open Edge:

    • Click the three horizontal dots in the upper-right corner.

  2. Settings:

    • Click on “Settings.”

  3. Privacy, Search, and Services:

    • Select “Privacy, search, and services” from the left sidebar.

  4. Clear Browsing Data:

    • Under “Clear browsing data,” click “Choose what to clear.”

  5. Select Time Range and Data:

    • Choose the time range (e.g., “Last hour,” “Last 24 hours,” “All time”).

    • Ensure “Cached images and files” is checked. You can also select other data types to clear.

  6. Clear Now:

    • Click the “Clear now” button.

Safari (macOS):

  1. Open Safari:

    • Click “Safari” in the menu bar at the top of the screen.

  2. Preferences:

    • Select “Preferences.”

  3. Advanced Tab:

    • Go to the “Advanced” tab and check the box for “Show Develop menu in menu bar.”

  4. Develop Menu:

    • Close the Preferences window. Click “Develop” in the menu bar.

  5. Empty Caches:

    • Click “Empty Caches.”

Safari (iOS):

  1. Open Settings:

    • Open the “Settings” app.

  2. Safari:

    • Scroll down and tap on “Safari.”

  3. Clear History and Website Data:

    • Tap “Clear History and Website Data.”

  4. Confirm:

    • Confirm by tapping “Clear History and Data.”

Clearing Cache for Other Browsers:

  • Opera:

    • Open the menu by clicking the Opera logo in the top left corner.

    • Go to “History,” then “Clear browsing data.”

    • Choose the time range and ensure “Cached images and files” is selected. Click “Clear data.”

  • Brave:

    • Open the menu by clicking the three horizontal lines in the upper-right corner.

    • Go to “Settings,” then “Privacy and security.”

    • Click “Clear browsing data,” choose the time range and data types, and click “Clear data.”
