Client case study · CMMC Level 1 work ongoing
Construction Contractor: Microsoft Teams File Collaboration
A construction business working on federal, state, and local contracts was undertaking CMMC Level 1 preparation. Staff had been sharing credentials to access organizational resources, including files and other users’ mailboxes. Rebnetik created a Microsoft Teams structure with a layout for sharing files between team members.

The starting point
Shared credentials were being used to reach business resources.
Shared credentials had become a practical workaround for getting work done. When access to a file depends on another person’s sign-in, collaboration and account access become entangled. The organization needed a defined place for team files as part of its wider CMMC Level 1 work.
Work delivered
A defined space for team files.
Created the Microsoft Teams structure
Rebnetik created a Teams structure for the organization, providing a defined collaboration space within its existing Microsoft 365 environment.
Organized files for team access
The layout was configured so team members could share files through the team structure. The work addressed file collaboration directly, rather than treating another employee’s account as the place colleagues should go for shared work.
Implementation status
What is in place. What remains ongoing.
A Microsoft Teams structure and file-sharing layout are in place for team collaboration. The organization’s broader CMMC Level 1 readiness work remains ongoing.
What this means for a similar business
For contractors with similar workarounds, shared file access deserves its own design. Teams, roles, and file locations should reflect the way colleagues need to work together. Mailbox delegation, account ownership, and removal of shared credentials require their own agreed actions and verification.
Rebnetik’s role in these engagements is readiness and implementation support. This case study does not represent an independent CMMC assessment or certification decision.
